AUGUST – SEPTEMBER 2016
On September 3rd, we hosted a ‘back to school’ concert for the kids of the neighborhood with special guest ‘KIKE’, who is Bosnia’s most well known TV/concert children’s entertainer. Nearly 100 children and many of their parents crowded into our children’s ministry center. Everyone had a blast and it created an opportunity for us to meet many new families.
The leader of the AA/addiction recovery group, which meets in our ministry center on Monday nights, shared with us after the concert about KIKE the following:
“When I was a child during the Bosnian War of 1992-1995, KIKE lived in the same apartment building as I did. He was a rock-n-roll musician and singer before the war. Throughout the war, he would hold concerts and programs in the basement area of the apartment building for all us kids. He was trying to keep us entertained during those years so we would not be killed by the exploding mortar shells and sniper fire that was taking place outside.”
